Student Athletic Trainers are students that shadow and are supervised by Florence High School's very own head Athletic Trainer, Kira Berch.
Every year our Student Athletic Trainers attend The University of Southern Mississippi's Athletic Training Camp where they have hands on learning including: taping, stretches, anatomy and terminology. Training opens these students to opportunities you cannot find any classroom. At camp, they meet new people while also getting connections along the way for their future. At every practice, Student Athletic Trainers are present and keep the players hydrated and try to prevent injuries. They receive first hand knowledge about injuries by joining Mrs. Berch on game days for all of Florence High School's athletics. They are allowed to go through the whole process from assessment to rehab of the injury. Among these many advantages, there are more privileges open to them. Mississippi Sports Medicine opens workshops that have speakers and show dissections. Every year, Mrs. Berch hand picks a few Student Athletic Trainers that have stood out and takes them to The New Orleans Saints Athletic Training Center. "The workshops are extremely fun and educational!! I have attended every one and walk away with something new every time." - Trinity Thomas "USM is something we look forward to every year! We meet Athletic Trainers from colleges all over the country and learn so many different things!" -Emily Cain and Hayden Sullivan |
